Her writing is influenced by her previous work in prison ministry, as well as by assisting the men and women she recruited in shelters for a funded program designed to help participants seek and obtain jobs. She enjoys illustrating her writing with digital art. Janet's experience includes: Full time prison ministry in St. Louis, Missouri; Managing a program assisting homeless men and women in Joplin, Missouri; Weekend Manager at the Ronald McDonald House in Joplin, Missouri; A Family Resource Specialist at Head Start in Joplin, Missouri; Hospice volunteer in St. Louis, Missouri; Volunteering for six weeks at a distribution center following the 2011 Joplin tornado; Public speaking opportunities in radio and other forums; and A radio reader for the blind at WYPL, FM 89.3, Memphis, Tennessee.
